About the Role
Bradley David Associates are currently seeking an experienced Ocean Import Operator to manage end-to-end ocean freight processes at our Basildon office.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee import shipments from booking through to final delivery
- Liaise with overseas agents, shipping lines, and carriers
- Handle customs entries in line with UK compliance standards
- Track shipments and provide regular customer updates
- Verify and process freight invoices (ocean, port, and customs fees)
- Prepare arrival notices and delivery instructions
- Resolve delays/discrepancies and communicate with clients and internal teams
- Deliver excellent customer service and maintain strong relationships
Requirements:
- 3–4 years’ experience in ocean import operations within freight forwarding
- Strong knowledge of shipping documents (B/L, invoices, packing lists)
- Understanding of customs clearance procedures and INCOTERMS
- Confident handling FCL and LCL shipments
- Familiar with port operations and container logistics
- Experience with customs systems (e.g., CHIEF, CDS)
- Highly organised, detail-oriented, and effective under pressure
