About the Role

Bradley David Associates are currently seeking an experienced Ocean Import Operator to manage end-to-end ocean freight processes at our Basildon office.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee import shipments from booking through to final delivery
  • Liaise with overseas agents, shipping lines, and carriers
  • Handle customs entries in line with UK compliance standards
  • Track shipments and provide regular customer updates
  • Verify and process freight invoices (ocean, port, and customs fees)
  • Prepare arrival notices and delivery instructions
  • Resolve delays/discrepancies and communicate with clients and internal teams
  • Deliver excellent customer service and maintain strong relationships

Requirements:

  • 3–4 years’ experience in ocean import operations within freight forwarding
  • Strong knowledge of shipping documents (B/L, invoices, packing lists)
  • Understanding of customs clearance procedures and INCOTERMS
  • Confident handling FCL and LCL shipments
  • Familiar with port operations and container logistics
  • Experience with customs systems (e.g., CHIEF, CDS)
  • Highly organised, detail-oriented, and effective under pressure
