Investment Governance and Risk Officer
About the Role
Bradley David Associates is working with a leading financial business on the search for an Investment Governance and Risk Officer to join their City of London office.
We’re looking for a skilled Risk and Control professional to play a key role within our Asset Management business. You’ll help manage and strengthen our 1st Line control environment—ensuring compliance with regulations, investment policies, and client mandates while promoting a strong risk-aware culture.
You’ll lead monitoring, surveillance, and oversight activities, translating findings into actionable insights and clear MI reporting for senior management. By providing expert risk advice and supporting effective frameworks, you’ll help the business make confident, well-governed decisions that deliver great outcomes for our clients.
What You’ll Do:
Risk Management & Frameworks:
- Maintain and enhance risk frameworks covering appetite, controls, incidents, and regulatory compliance.
- Identify and address potential risks to customer outcomes through effective controls and mitigation strategies.
- Promote a culture of openness and accountability, ensuring timely reporting and escalation of risk events.
1st Line Control & Oversight:
- Operate and develop the 1st Line control environment, including monitoring and surveillance to ensure regulatory adherence.
- Oversee pre-trade compliance controls and the development of technical rules within the Order Management System.
Governance & Reporting:
- Deliver insightful MI and risk reporting for senior stakeholders, committees, and boards.
- Support policy compliance and annual attestations across conduct, consumer duty, and regulatory requirements.
Advice & Risk Partnership:
- Act as a trusted adviser to the business, championing the Three Lines of Defence model.
- Provide expert guidance on regulatory change, control design, and risk management practices.
- Deliver training and education to build strong risk awareness across Asset Management.
Who You Are:
- Deep understanding of Asset Management products, services, and regulation.
- Strong technical knowledge of risk and compliance frameworks.
- Excellent communicator with the ability to influence and collaborate across all levels.
- Organised, proactive, and confident managing competing priorities.
- Experienced in risk oversight and embedding enterprise risk management frameworks.
Qualifications:
- Degree and/or professional investment qualification preferred.
- Relevant risk, compliance, or investment management credentials desirable.
