About the Role

Bradley David Associates is seeking a skilled CNC Programmer / Operator to join our manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing, programming, and maintaining CNC machines to produce high-quality components. This role offers an exciting opportunity for individuals with a strong mechanical background and experience in precision machining, particularly within plastics injection moulding and related industries. The successful applicant will contribute to the optimisation of manufacturing processes, ensuring efficiency and accuracy in production.

  • Day and Night shifts available
  • Chelmsford area - not accessible via public transport
  • £34,000 - £39,000 dependent on experience
  • Monday to Friday - 5am- 2pm or 2pm - 1am

Duties:

  • Develop and write CNC programmes using CAD/CAM software.
  • Set up and operate CNC machines, including milling and grinding equipment, ensuring precise execution of programmes.
  • Interpret technical drawings and specifications to produce components within tight tolerances.
  • Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on CNC machinery to minimise downtime.
  • Utilise hand tools, power tools, and tooling to assist with machine setup, adjustments, and assembly tasks.
  • Apply mechanical knowledge to modify programmes or machine settings as required for different projects.
  • Conduct quality checks on finished parts, ensuring adherence to specifications and standards.
  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to optimise processes related to plastics injection moulding and assembly operations.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of programmes, modifications, and production data.

Experience:

  • Proven experience with CNC programming in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in CAD software for designing and modifying parts.
  • Familiarity with CAD/CAM software for programme generation is essential.
  • Knowledge of welding, assembly processes, and the use of hand tools and power tools within a mechanical setting is advantageous.
  • Understanding of tooling selection, basic maths skills for measurements and calculations, and experience working with plastics injection moulding are desirable.
  • Strong mechanical knowledge combined with the ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications is required.
  • Previous experience working with plastics or in a similar industry will be considered an asset.
