About the Role

Bradley David Associates is working with a leading financial services business on the search for a Asset Management 1st Line Risk Specialist.

  • Monday to Friday 9am-5pm, hybrid
  • City of London office
  • £50,000 - £65,000 dependent on experience

You will support the Senior Investment Governance and First Line Risk Manager in developing, maintaining, and enhancing an effective First Line risk and control environment aligned to the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) Framework. The role delivers value-adding risk reporting to relevant governance forums and supports informed decision-making across Asset Management.

This includes coordinating and consolidating First Line Asset Management risk reporting across key risk management processes, including risk events, key risk indicators, RCSA, operational risk scenario analysis, emerging risks, risk acceptance, and issues and actions management.

The role also provides support to the ICARA process and associated reporting.

You will maintain strong business knowledge and credibility to act as a trusted authority on risk-related matters within Asset Management. Working closely with the Second Line Risk Management team, you will provide expert advice to the business, promote effective risk management practices, foster a strong risk culture, and support the delivery of fair outcomes within the defined risk appetite.

Key Responsibilities:

Risk and Control Self-Assessment (RCSA)

Support the First Line business in identifying, monitoring, and reporting key risks and controls, including:

  • Ensuring all material risks and controls are appropriately captured and assessed within the risk management system provided by the Second Line Risk Function, covering all risk categories within the Risk Universe, including emerging, reputational, and change-related risks.
  • Ensuring risks outside tolerance and weak or deficient controls are appropriately managed, with documented issues, actions, and governance in line with relevant standards.
  • Supporting the establishment and maintenance of Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) and Risk Indicators (RIs), including agreed tolerances, to enable effective monitoring, escalation, and reporting.
  • Confirming alignment between key risks identified through RCSA and associated KRIs and control assessments, guiding the business on remediation, escalation, and reporting requirements.
  • Supporting Asset Management teams in completing RCSA assessments and reports.
  • Ensuring risk events are recorded, assessed, and escalated in accordance with the Risk Event Standard.
  • Maintaining up-to-date Business Process Documentation (BPD) inventories and supporting documentation.
  • Reviewing First Line adherence to key processes and governance controls and escalating issues where necessary.

Governance and Reporting

  • Provide regular updates and input into management-level committees and Board reporting.
  • Maintain regular engagement (at least quarterly) with Asset Management subject matter experts.
  • Attend relevant management forums, committees, and working groups as required.

ICARA

  • Support the coordination and production of the annual ICARA documentation, including operational risk scenarios.

Risk Advice

  • Provide First Line risk advice and support in relation to forthcoming business changes and projects.

Policy Management and Attestation

  • Facilitate and manage the annual policy attestation process, ensuring compliance with applicable requirements.

About You

You will bring:

  • Strong knowledge of Asset Management products and services.
  • Experience with risk governance practices within an enterprise risk management framework and relevant regulatory environment.
  • Exposure to operational risk management, including monitoring and reporting methodologies.
  • Proven experience embedding and maintaining enterprise risk management frameworks.
  • Experience providing risk oversight and challenge at a business level.
  • The ability to deliver clear, timely, and pragmatic risk advice.
  • Strong organisational skills with a risk-based approach to prioritisation in a dynamic environment.
  • Excellent analytical, reporting, and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, influencing, and stakeholder management skills, including engagement with senior and executive leadership.
  • The ability to build and maintain effective working relationships across business units and governance functions.
